The problem here is too much basis in the SCTV family of films. The viewer in my experience tends to take films that the producers of a TV series do and associate them with that point of origin, the way any David Spade, Wil Ferrell or Mike Myers and Dana Carvey vehicle is seen as an SNL big-screen spinoff.
